Historia del Mariachi: una tradición musical en movimiento
OLD MARIACHI.

Whatever the origin of the word, the truth is that mariachi is born from the fusion of conches, teponaztlis, huéhuetls, reed or clay flutes with guitars and violins; While this instrumental miscegenation occurred, in 1695 the Cocas invented the vihuela and, with posterity, the guitarrón -which replaced the Spanish lute and double bass, respectively-, and it is known that by the 1930s there were in Coculates at least two mariachis: the Coculán and the Chivatillo, from which the Mariachi Salinas emerged, patriarch of the string groups that play vernacular music, thanks to the fact that their instruments are made up of a guitarrón, two violins, a vihuela and a chirimía .
